The Apprentice star Amy Anzel pretty in pink in Salford as co-star spills surprising behind-the-scenes secrets

The Apprentice star Amy Anzel looked pretty in pink as she stepped out in the sunshine in Salford. The beauty tools boss turned heads in a checked blazer and coordinating heels at MediaCityUK.

Amy, who was one of 16 contestants competing to win £250,000 investment from Lord Alan Sugar in the 2022 series earlier this year, looked sensational as she teamed her smart jacket with figure-hugging blue jeans for a business meeting. And the entrepreneur added a quilted Chanel bag to complete her chic look.

Amy, the CEO of dermaplaning brand Hollywood Browzer, turned heads at MediaCity as her co-star Kathryn Burn lifted the lid on some surprising behind the scenes secrets. Kathryn, who came second in the competition narrowly missing out on being 'hired' to Harpreet Kaur and her dessert business Oh So Yum, shared with fans during an Instagram Q&A.

Kathryn, who was runner-up with her matching pyjama business, revealed that the participants in the BBC business competition are banned from drinking alcohol unless they win a task and then they can celebrate with one glass of champagne only. Asked to share her 'best memory' she said: "The first one was creating a nightclub in the cinema room on our day off."

And she told her followers: "We weren't allowed to drink alcohol (unless you won a task where you'd be allowed one glass of champagne only) so we were only allowed nozeco. But it was so much fun and we all danced for hours."

Another favourite memory was finding out she'd made the final four with Harpreet, Brittany Carter and Stephanie Afflek. The finalists were treated to a takeaway on a break from filming and they were allowed to toast their triumph with champers.

She recalled: "The other was the night that me and the girls got told we were in the final four. We were just so happy and were allowed to order the most delicious takeaway and have champers with production."

She added: "We didn't have to film any of it either so we got into our comfies, celebrated and called home to let them know the news. We saved the worry for the interviews the following day."

Asked for her tips on applying for the Apprentice she advised: "I get asked this a lot and to be honest it's quite simple just be yourself! "When I look back on the application process/auditions I didn't do anything out of the ordinary, silly or stupid."

She added: "I was confident, spoke about my business and why I should be Lord Sugar's next business partner. Then I just kept being put through to the next stage until I was on the show!"

Kathryn was also quizzed about the outfits worn by the candidates. Asked 'does the show provide outfits?' she said: "No it's all our own that we brought in with us!"

And luckily she and her pals are all the same size so they used to share clothes and have a communal wardrobe. "We all still share clothes and send to each other in the post if we have an event coming up etc," she said. "So you may notice the same outfits on all of our Instagrams. It's very handy!"

New Yorker Amy, who lives in London and regular visits Manchester, told back in March how she had lost five stone ahead of appearing in the long-running show. She decided to lose weight after being diagnosed with two health conditions after the birth of her son Jacob, five.

And she said she 'barely recognised herself' after shedding the weight. "Looking at these photos side by side, I barely even recognise myself in the before photo and am so proud of how far I’ve come!" she said.

"After giving birth of Jacob, I was diagnosed with two conditions, Hypothyroidism, a condition where your thyroid doesn't produce enough hormones - and a thyroid related autoimmune disease called Hashimoto's Thyroiditis - where the immune system makes antibodies that attack the thyroid and therefore it becomes under active and causes weight gain."

With the right medication, monitoring by doctors, a diet plan and an exercise regime tailored to her conditions she was able to lose weight she'd gained during and after pregnancy and is now back at 10 stone.

"It was HARD and some days it felt like I’d never get to where I wanted to be. But in 4/5 months I managed to achieve my goal!" she said. "I started weight training several times a week, and rain or shine I ALWAYS made sure to do 10,000 steps per day, no excuses."

Amy was disappointed to be 'fired' by Lord Sugar in the sixth week of The Apprentice. She is now aiming for her business to become as big as Coca-Cola after singing in an ad for the brand as a child.

The mother-of-one told us previously: "After The Apprentice I have bigger dreams. I want Hollywood Browzer to be like Coca-Cola in the beauty world."
