The Apprentice has revealed its two finalists - Harpreet Kaur and Kathryn Burn
The remaining four candidates - Brittany Carter, Harpreet Kaur, Kathryn Burn and Stephanie Affleck - found out their fate during tonight's episode of the BBC One show, as the much-loved interview round returned.
They were quizzed about their businesses and their future plans, with show favourite Claude Littner back on the programme, as well as Claudine Collins, Linda Plant and Mike Soutar.
Back in the boardroom, Lord Alan Sugar decided to fire Brittany and Stephanie, leaving the two other ladies to fight it out next week to be given a £250,000 investment for a 50/50 partnership in their business.
During the tough interviews stage, Brittany, Harpreet, Kathryn and Steff were faced with direct questions about their business plans, with Claude issuing the candidates with some incredible one-liners.
As he interviewed Steff about her second-hand designer childrenswear marketplace, he said to her: "You're jumping from £300,000 to £1.8million turnover in a year?" to which she replied: "Yes," as Claude mocked her voice, before adding: "Yeah? No."
Brittany - who was pitching a high protein alcoholic drink business - was reduced to tears when Mike Soutar pointed out a huge flaw in her business plan, but she lied to her fellow candidates when they asked her if she had teared up during the interview.
Ahead of tonight's show, Brittany admitted the pandemic had been a huge catalyst for her deciding to start her own business, as she said: "The pandemic was definitely a catalyst because I’ve always been so focused with the job that I had, I didn’t really have any time for myself. I always knew I wanted to run my own business but it would be when work was a bit quieter."
Elsewhere, Harpreet - who has a dessert business - explained that her entrepreneurial spirit "kicked in later in life".
"I think I was around 20 or 21 and I was working for a bank whilst studying and I just knew that personally I could achieve more," she said, "Starting my own business was just like having an itch that I needed to scratch, and I just want to look back when I'm older and think, wow, I really smashed that goal. My entrepreneurial spirit definitely kicked in later in life."
Looking back on her time on the show, Kathryn - who is pitching her online pyjama business, with matching sets for the whole family and even the dogs - confessed it had been "a hell of a journey".
"It’s been a hell of a journey, and there were definitely times I thought I was getting fired, so to be standing with 3 strong, incredible girls, I just feel so proud and there’s no one else I’d rather be there with," she said.
Steff originally wanted to be a singer - but her dream soon changed when she was 16.
She shared: "When I was younger the dream was to become a singer and I lived and breathed it until I was 16, but after gearing myself up for it my whole life, it was at drama school when I realised my dream had changed."
