Alan Scott, the Golden Age Green Lantern, made his debut in 1940. Scott’s ring got its power from magic. Hal Jordan, the Silver Age Green Lantern, made his debut in 1959. The modern mythos expansion of the Green Lantern Corps, power rings fueled by willpower, and space cops controlled by the ancient Guardians of Oa began with the introduction of Hal Jordan. It was not until the 2000s that the Green Lantern Corps would expand into nine emotional spectrum corps.
