The £6 foundation that Boots Shoppers are saying 'works like a magic eraser'

Beauty enthusiasts will agree that finding the right foundation can be one of the trickiest make-up tactics out there.

There's a lot of products out there that promise to provide you with the perfect coverage and a flawless complexion that it can feel like a beauty minefield.

But, Boots shoppers think they have found the real deal from a cult-favourite high-street brand and it will only set you back just £6.

Shoppers have heaped praise on the Fast Base Stick Foundation from the affordable Revolution brand, which they have given five star reviews and said "works like a magic eraser."

The bargain beauty product is said to "melt into the skin’ to leave a fresh and dewy finish", which is exactly what we all look for when it comes to looking for the perfect coverage.

With such rave reviews, one reporter decided to find out if the foundation really did live up to the hype.

Emily Sleight from The Liverpool Echo picked up the foundation stick which she found to be a worthy replacement for her pricier Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation at £34.

Here are Emily's thoughts...

The look

The packaging did not do the foundation justice (The Liverpool Echo)

We'll all admit that first impressions count - yes, even with beauty products - and the budget foundation stick did not seem to stick out from the crowd or seem anything much from its packaging.

Emily said: "The product's packaging didn’t exactly blow me away, it just looked like a standard stick of foundation and if anything appeared quite small. I’ve never been one to use foundation sticks in the past, so this was going to be a whole new experience for me.

"Once I removed the cap I saw the foundation stick which looked pretty spot on shade wise. I couldn’t help but notice the rose gold packaging which had a slight resemblance to Charlotte Tilbury products, but perhaps that was a coincidence."

The foundation

Packaging aside, the main question would be if the foundation was actually any good? Well, according to Emily, it's good. Very good in fact.

She said: "I was a little dubious with the foundation stick, but after placing one stroke on my cheek I was incredibly surprised. It glided on my face with ease and felt quite creamy, almost like a moisturiser, and was absolutely spot on shade wise considering I guessed!"

The writer said that the foundation stick gives you everything you are looking for from a foundation stick.

From blending perfectly to a sponge to providing an even and dewy appearance for your complexion, the foundation stick seems to be worth the hype.

The review also found that the "magic eraser" comments were spot on, as she said: "For someone that suffers with blemishes and patchy skin, this foundation really did work like a ‘magic eraser’.

The coverage was perfect, not too heavy, not too light, and blurred all my imperfections to the point where it appeared airbrushed.

It doesn’t feel cakey or sticky on the face, and gives a nice dewy glowy finish in a matter of seconds.

Another thing I noticed was the fact that my blush seemed to blend a lot better with this foundation, perhaps because it was a creamier based product.

Long story short, this foundation left my skin looking flawless in a matter of seconds, and I was gobsmacked."

In fact, Emily was so impressed with the results that she considers the £6 foundation stick to be better than her current Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless foundation priced that is priced at £34.

The verdict

Emily found that the foundation left her with a flawless complexion (The Liverpool Echo)

It looks like the budget beauty buy is one of those beauty products that actually lives up to all the glowing reviews, with Emily saying that she may have found her next go-to foundation.

The foundation stick more than makes up for its lacklustre packaging that makes it look less than it actually is.

I loved every single thing about this foundation - granted, it doesn’t look like much packaging wise but don’t let that put you off. If you’re after a lightweight creamy foundation that gives you a flawless finish with a few strokes, this foundation is a game changer.
