Each school across the country is subject to an Ofsted report every four years where inspectors visit to see how it is being run. The inspectors look at behaviour, how lessons are being delivered and how teachers are performing, along with a host of other things.
The inspectors then produce a long report detailing their findings and rate the schools as either inadequate, requiring improvement, good or outstanding. And across the city and wider Nottinghamshire there are currently just over 50 primary schools that have been judged as among the very best in their latest Ofsted reports and graded outstanding.
These schools, based on their most recent inspection, were given very high grades, according to the Ofsted website. Here is a run-down of the outstanding schools in Nottinghamshire, in Nottingham and other areas such as Mansfield, Newark and Gedling.
