As a tech reviewer, I've spent the last few years building the same mock website across dozens of platforms: Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, GoDaddy, Weebly, Hostinger, Bluehost and more. I've gone through the registration process, pushed the AI tools, and called on support more times than I'd like to admit. All this has given me an unvarnished view of what these platforms are actually like to use in practice. And I have to be honest: it's not always as slick as the sales copy suggests.
That's not a reason to avoid the best website builders. For most freelancers and small businesses, they're still the sensible choice: quick, affordable and good enough to compete with anyone else in your field.
