The 5-star Nottingham cafe hidden behind popular retail park

A cob and a cuppa always goes down well in the morning, doesn’t it? That is certainly the case for a cafe hidden behind a popular Nottingham retail park.

With builders coming for a breakfast cob in the morning, the owners have admitted that business was better during the pandemic with the click and collect system. Steve’s Snap Stop is on the same grounds as John A Stephans in Castle Meadow Road.

Hidden behind the Castle Retail Park is where you’ll find them. Behind the counter, you’ll find Tracy Tideswell and Daren Saunders.

Tracy said: “We took over 3 years ago through Covid and it’s been really good.

“Due to the cost of living things did drop a bit. We do loads but the breakfast cobs are the most popular, a lot of the builders come for those in the morning.”

With a 5-star rating on Just Eat too, Stevo’s Snack Stop certainly is popular. At the cafe, you can get curries, hot dogs, a double whammy burger and of course, a cob.

A sausage and bacon cob at Stevo’s is just £2.75, the same price as a jumbo hot dog, with a cup of tea for only £1, too.

Tracy added: “A lot of customers from the retail park come over too. We get people from Currys and Furniture Village.

“We’re getting out there now but during Covid, with click and collect, that was our busiest time.” The small cafe had been there decades before Tracy and Darren took over but they have still managed to keep builders, customers and bikers coming back.

Community reporter Keimae Blake doesn’t like beans but work experience student Viraj Soni does.

Describing the cafe’s chips and beans as ‘hot, crispy’ and ‘the best I’ve ever had’ whether it’s a cup of tea or a cob to give you some fuel for a while, Stevo’s Snack Stop lives up to its 5 star rating.
