The 5 best NFL bets for Week 5

This week’s best bets include an overrated team to win as a road underdog on the moneyline, two young NFC teams hitting under their point projection, two AFC Super Bowl contenders hitting over their O/U number, and the last two undefeated teams in the NFL staying that way.

5
Take the Dallas Cowboys on the moneyline (+115) at Pittsburgh Steelers

The Cowboys are banged up significantly on defense, but heading into Pittsburgh may not be as dire as it sounds. The Cowboys are small road underdogs (2.5 points) but have a passing offense capable of doing damage. The Steelers have scored only six touchdowns in four games, so the game should be close. If it is close in the fourth, like the chances of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb doing enough to bring home a much-needed win.

Take Minnesota Vikings and lay 2.5 points (-110) vs. New York Jets

The talk of the NFL has been Sam Darnold and his amazing early-season turnaround, but what hasn’t received enough attention is the defense built by Brian Flores. Minnesota has outscored its opponents 69-17 in the first half, keeping offenses like Green Bay, San Francisco, and Houston at bay early. The Jets have been struggling to find their offensive identity, but until somebody solves the Vikings defense for four quarters, it’s hard to bet against them.

3
Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears: Take UNDER 41 points (-110)

The Panthers have looked better with Andy Dalton at quarterback, but the Bears have one of the best defenses in the league. Chicago hasn’t allowed more than 21 points in a game this season, and it can be argued the Panthers are the weakest offense the Bears have faced. Chicago is a different team at Soldier Field, but Caleb Williams isn’t lighting things up – home or road. This has the look of a field-goal game that has Chicago winning without scoring more than 20 points.

2
Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans: Take OVER 47.5 points (-110)

Buffalo has scored 31 or more points in three of four games, and Houston has scored 24 or more in three of their four wins. At the start of the season, this game was one that viewed as a precursor to a second meeting in January. Both offenses are capable of being balanced and making big plays. The Texans have scored fewer than 20 points just once (19 vs. Chicago) in C.J. Stroud‘s NFL career, and they will continue that trend by forcing the Bills to keep up.

1
Take Kansas City Chiefs and lay 5.5 points (-110) vs. New Orleans Saints

Credit: Brett Davis-Imagn Images

The Saints came out of the gate strong but have stumbled over the last two games. The Chiefs just find ways to win. When things go bad for New Orleans, they tend to snowball. Six of the last nine Saints road losses have been by more than the 5.5 points they’re getting, and the champs aren’t going to show any mercy under the primetime lights if they get a lead.
