The 22 Y.O. Who Pissed Over Woolies Meat Aisle Has Been Sentenced

The 22-year-old man who was arrested and charged for urinating on a bunch of produce at a Sydney CBD Woolworths has been sentenced, with the court learning that he was suffering from chronic schizophrenia at the time.

On Monday, was convicted and sentenced to a 12-month community corrections order after pleading guilty to two charges, including contaminating goods with intent to cause public alarm and trespassing.

He was arrested in early July after causing more than $300 in damages to goods by pissing on a bunch of produce at the Sydney CBD Woolworths.

Per news.com.au, he was reportedly banned from all Woolworths supermarkets for six months on June 13 after he was apprehended for shoplifting at Toongabbie Woolworths, a statement of agreed facts to the court.

Despite the six-month ban, the western Sydney man entered the Sydney CBD branch on July 1, where he threw a pack of Tim Tams from one aisle to the next, court documents claim.

After throwing the bikkies, court documents state that he took the escalator to the bottom floor where he then approached a refrigerated meat aisle and pissed on two meat shelves for 28 seconds, where he was within metres of four customers.

CBD Woolworths employees spent eight hours cleaning and decontaminating the affected area.

In CCTV footage released by police, the man was seen tying up his pants as he exited an escalator. Days after the police made its public appeal, he was arrested at Hunters Hill.

Per the publication, when Ebejer was arrested, he was given conditional bail. However, the man was jailed in August for unrelated matters, with his prison term to end on December 17.

It was also revealed to the court that Ebejer had been suffering from chronic schizophrenia since he was 16 and had a history of having a substance abuse disorder. Due to this, he is expected to have two NDIS support workers assigned help him following his release.

Chief Magistrate Michael Allen labelled the man’s behaviour as “bizarre” but added that his offences “cannot be divorced” from his mental health.

Allen also noted that the defendant was medicated for his schizophrenia and was about to begin medication for his substance abuse disorder.

His 12-month community correction order also requires him to follow a treatment regimen.
