Most people consider the Oscars the end of red carpet season. But fashion has its own calendar. The CFDA Fashion Awards, which used to be held in June, now happen in November. While the British version, simply dubbed The Fashion Awards, favors December. Now the Accessories Council is unveiling the honorees for the 2024 Accessories Council Excellence Awards (ACE Awards), which will be handed out on May 7 at The Pierre in New York City.
Before we reveal the honorees, a little background information seems to be in order. The Accessories Council is an international trade organization that began in 1994. Its goal is to "stimulate global consumer awareness and demand for fashion accessory products." Over 330 companies and organizations are members spanning the globe and the accessories, eyewear and footwear sectors. Think designers, retailers and publications. It publishes a quarterly digital magazine that's completely shoppable and puts on networking events, educational seminars and social media gatherings. Plus, of course, the annual ACE Awards.
The list of past recipients is long and distinguished. Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co., Hermes, Iris Apfel, Burberry, Ciara and tons more. That's because the council rewards designers, brands, retailers, celebrities and media who have an impact on the accessory market. This year's ceremony will mark the council's 30th anniversary so there's even more reason to celebrate.
"We could not be prouder to recognize such a versatile group of outstanding designers and leading creatives breaking boundaries in our industry at the upcoming ACE Awards at The Pierre hotel in New York City," says the organization's President and CEO Karen Giberson. "This year's class of honorees includes some of the most iconic names in fashion and design, as well as emerging artists that have raised the bar on how consumers view and shop for accessories for years to come."
