The Green Bay Packers didn’t clinch a playoff berth until late in the process, but their postseason is unfolding with eerie similarity to the last Packers team to win a Super Bowl.
The NFL pointed out on social media all the similarities between the 2023 Packers and the 2010 Packers, who won Aaron Rodgers’ sole Super Bowl while leading Green Bay.
While most people scoff at these types of coincidences, it’s still fascinating to look at just how identical the situations were between these two teams as they contended for a Lombardi.
We’re not saying the San Francisco 49ers should be considered an underdog now or anything, but this is mighty interesting all the same.
The Packers became the first #7 seed to win a playoff game since the NFL expanded the playoffs to 14 teams in 2020.
The last team to be the lowest seed in their conference and win the Super Bowl? The 2010 Packers with Super Bowl XLV MVP Aaron Rodgers.

Perhaps new Packers quarterback Jordan Love will repeat history in this very specific path, or maybe Green Bay is still a bit away from winning multiple playoff games at this point in Love’s career.
No matter what, the future does look bright in Titletown with Love under center.
