The 17 latest top hires and promotions from across the North West

Companies based across the North West have announced a raft of top hires and promotions over the last seven days.

Law firms, a national car dealer and a drinks company have all made announcements recently.

Below, BusinessLive rounds up the latest hires and promotions we feel you should not miss.

Primas Law

Commercial law firm Primas Law has announced three new hires across the firm.

Alexia Savar joins the team as an insolvency litigator and Fatima Iqbal and Lawrence Isaac join as paralegals in their corporate and commercial and construction and projects teams respectively.

Managing partner Adam Kerr said: "We have an expansive business plan for this coming year and it’s really pleasing to have already delivered on a part of that strategy in the first quarter of the financial year.

"These quality new team members, along with some excellent client wins and marquee instructions, mean that we’ve had a great start to the financial year. We’ve an exciting year ahead."

Primas Law has offices in Manchester, Cheshire and London.

Lookers

Greater Manchester-headquartered Lookers has named John-Paul Jones as head of talent acquisition.

He joins Lookers from Arla Foods, one of the UK’s largest food manufacturers.

Mr Jones said: "I’m excited to be able to support the team in delivering great candidate experiences and bringing the very best talent into this successful business."

Homes for Students

Homes for Students has welcomed a number of new faces to its Liverpool office.

Rebecca Williams joins the team as commercial director while Charlie Hunt has been named as the company's first sustainability manager.

Managing director Kate Forester said: "Rebecca and Charlie’s appointments represent a real step change for Homes for Students and a testament to the growing scale we have achieved over the past couple of years. Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic, our business continues to go from strength to strength."

Kingsland Drinks

Greater Manchester’s Kingsland Drinks has announced the appointment of Andy Henderson as operations director.

Mr Henderson takes on responsibility for Kingsland Drinks’ factory operations, technical and supply chain functions.

Managing director Ed Baker said: "Our business has transformed in recent years to one that supports all aspects of the wine, spirits and low/no sector. Combined with our newly established status as employee owned, this role will ensure the best co-ordinated service delivery to our customers.

"We welcome Andy warmly into the Kingsland family and know his combination of start-up and big firm operations experience will play a crucial part in our journey to the next level."

MSB Solicitors

MSB Solicitors has announced the promotion of four employees across its Manchester and Liverpool offices.

The new associates include Sarah McGuinness in the commercial property department, Sarah Coakley in commercial property and David Tarttelin, who is part of the firm’s civil and commercial litigation department.

Calum Whelan, who is part of MSB’s family law department and joined the firm in 2021, has also been promoted from solicitor to senior associate.

Tristone Capital

Tristone Capital – a buy and build social care investment group headquartered in Manchester – has added to its senior leadership team with the appointment of John McCooey.

Mr McCooey, who joins from Amelia Knight Group, has more than 25 years’ experience in finance and commercial director level positions.

He said: "The opportunities and potential that exist at Tristone are very exciting and the ethos and values that drive the business forward are very much aligned with my own. I’m looking forward to this new chapter with Yannis, Phil, Rob and the wider Tristone team."

Deloitte

Deloitte has announced that Stephen Lashmar has joined its real estate team - within the financial advisory practice - as a director in Manchester.

Specialising in land assembly, compulsory purchase and valuation advice, Mr Lashmar will have focus on projects involving regeneration, levelling-up and infrastructure schemes in the North and Midlands.

He joins the team from Manchester-based surveying practice Roger Hannah and has more than 20 years’ experience with practices in the North West, including Keppie Massie and CBRE.

Mr Lashmar said: "Deloitte has an exceptional blend of skills, encompassing specialist real estate, financial and strategic advice to public and private-sector clients. I am looking forward to bringing my experience to the team and to deliver regeneration, levelling-up and infrastructure schemes for our clients across the region."

Equity Release Supermarket

Craig Kerrigan has joined Warrington-headquartered Equity Release Supermarket as national account manager

He will be focussed on building existing relationships and targeting new partnerships with advisers, firms, and networks in both the equity release and holistic financial advisory sectors.

He said: "It’s a privilege to join this exceptional team at Equity Release Supermarket and I’m excited about what the future holds for the firm.

"We have some fantastic opportunities available through our development of digital and technology innovations that we’ve created to transform the equity release landscape. In particular, the launch of smartER last year, enables customers to now take control and research product rates and features in their own time and I’m looking forward to bringing these new developments to a wider network."

Downing Construction

Andy Thomas has been promoted from technical director to operations director at Liverpool-based Downing Construction.

The move follows the retirement of director and head of construction Ian Orton.

Mr Thomas said: "It is no secret that the construction industry has had some challenging times the last few years with changes in legislation, insurance market challenges, supply chain issues, energy costs, Brexit, Net Zero to name a few.

"Downing has met every one of these challenges with motivation and enthusiasm and this is something we will continue to carry into this next chapter.

"I am extremely honoured to take on this role within Downing and proud to follow in Ian’s footsteps. We are lucky to have a great team which has been built and guided by Ian since it was first founded."

Partners in Change

Manchester-based consultancy Partners in Change has appointed Craig Gilham as delivery director for digital services.

He said: "I’m passionate about helping organisations deliver transformational change, helping them achieve new levels of customer experience, employee experience and efficiency.

"PiC have an excellent reputation and their positive, collaborative and flexible approach is the perfect springboard for successful change."
