Leeds city centre is the most dangerous place in Yorkshire and one of the most violent areas in the whole country, according to crime figures.
During the year ending January 2022, Leeds city centre suffered more crime than anywhere else in our region. A total of 10,626 crimes were committed in that neighbourhood over the last 12 months. When compared to the population, that works out as 737 crimes for every 1,000 people who live there, the fourth-highest rate in England and Wales.
A big concern in Leeds city centre is the high rate of violence and sexual offences, with 223 of these types of crimes for every 1,000 residents. People have a higher chance of being attacked in only three other neighbourhoods in the country.
