Leeds United made the decision to release both Adam Forshaw and Joel Robles without the offer of a new contract earlier this week. The pair have been invited to return to Thorp Arch for pre-season training at the start of July should they be without a club, but hopes of being offered a new deal might just depend on whether they can do enough to impress the new head coach.
Who that man in charge will be is still unclear at present, but making that appointment is obviously at the top of Leeds’ list of priorities. High on the agenda is the recruitment of players and a new director of football, too, but they’ll also be aware of the contract situation unfolding at Elland Road.
As it stands Leeds have 10 players about to enter the final year of their deals at Elland Road. Some of those are expected to leave the club this summer as part of what could be a large exodus following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, but it seems the club will have some tough calls to make on others, with this summer potentially being their last chance to secure a fee.
