Annoyed Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan was on Friday caught by stump microphone saying "that's why I don't believe in DRS" after a review taken by England tailender Brydon Carse went against the home team on day four of the second Test.
It didn't make a difference in the end result as Pakistan went on to win the match in Multan by 152 runs, but Rizwan's disapproval of the Decision Review System (DRS) didn't go unnoticed and went viral on social media.
After being adjudged lbw, Carse was advised by his partner and skipper Ben Stokes at the other end to go for the review. He was given out sweeping after Sajid Khan's quicker one hit him on the front leg, but review mechanism showed that the spin on the ball would have made it miss the leg-stump.
Umpire Kumar Dharmasena was, thus, advised to reverse his decision. "That's why I don't believe in DRS," Rizwan said before the next delivery was bowled.
Spinners Noman Ali (8 for 46) and Sajid (2 for 93) combined to take all 10 England wickets, similar to what they had done in the visitors' first innings, when Sajid bowled a seven-wicket spell.
"Usko sochna chahiye ke ICC ka law hai aur peechhe mic laga hua hai (he should be mindful of the fact that DRS is an ICC rule and there is a microphone behind the stumps)," said former Pakistan batsman Basit Ali while analysing the victory on his YouTube channel.
"It's not a good thing, there might be some action taken (against Rizwan)," he added.
The three-match series is now level at 1-1, with the final Test to be played from October 24 in Rawalpindi.
