'That's a potential' Newcastle United tipped for Sade Mane deal as Liverpool return ruled out

Sadio Mane could be on the move again after it is being reported he can leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season. The 31-year-old made the switch to the Bundesliga after securing a £35m move from Liverpool in the summer but it is being claimed that he is not part of new manager Thomas Tuchel's squad rebuild for next season.

He has only started six of Bayern's 11 league games since his return from injury in February, scoring once, and in April was suspended for one game for a confrontation with team-mate Leroy Sane. He has found the net 12 times in all competitions but has not managed to hold down a regular place under Tuchel and Sky in Germany are suggesting he could be set for a return to the Premier League.

Reporter Florian Plettenberg says Mane does not look like the player he was when he first signed. "Right now, this is not the Sadio Mane from Liverpool. You can really see the injury from him, right before the World Cup in Qatar, has done something to him.

"He has not got the same speed, he's not very good at dribbling or tackling, his body language is very bad - he's not that same happy guy. That situation with Sane was a shock for the management, team-mates and my information is that he's seen critically inside from now because of his performances and that behaviour.

"A lot of players have distanced themselves from Mane - he's a candidate for sale in the summer, he has a high salary and Thomas Tuchel has no real plans to work with him next season."

With the news Mane could be looking for a new club, Ally McCoist, on Talksport breakfast with Laura Woods, was asked where he would fit in if he was to come back to England.

And McCoist believes the only real possibility is Newcastle United. He said: "I don't think he would go back to Liverpool. [Newcastle] that's a potential. That's perhaps one. They could maybe not afford the wages that he's on, but could certainly look after him."
