'That can make us all proud' - German international legend sends message to Jurgen Klopp

Former German international Matthias Sammer has heaped praise on Jurgen Klopp and the positive impact he has made for German football.

Liverpool will play in their third Champions League final in five seasons on May 28 and having already won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, could still yet finish a remarkable campaign with either a cup treble or even an unprecedented quadruple, should the Reds snatch the Premier League title from Manchester City on the final day of the season.

Former Borussia Dortmund manager Sammer says Klopp's achievements can not be taken lightly. Speaking to SportBild, as per Sport Witness, he said: "First of all, you can’t overestimate what Jurgen Klopp is doing for Liverpool and, as a German coach, for the image of German soccer.

"That can make us all proud. Klopp can always reinvent himself with Liverpool; he is constantly looking for new building blocks, also in his coaching and support staff, to further improve the quality."

Sammer, who won the Champions League with Dortmund as a player in 1997, also highlighted Klopp's willingness to work with experts in particular fields as an example of something that sets him apart from other managers in the game at the very highest level.

Sammer said: "The fact that a strong leader like Jurgen Klopp gathers top specialists around him for the perfect result cannot be credited to him highly enough."

Klopp clinched two consecutive Bundesliga titles as manager of Dortmund before moving to Merseyside in October 2015, following a short sabbatical. He has since gone on to win six major honours with the Reds, including the Champions League in 2019 and ended Liverpool's 30-year title wait by winning the Premier League in 2020.
