Olive Music presents "A Musical Legacy", an afternoon of music, memory and inspiration, at Sala Sudasiri Sobha, Lat Phrao 41 yaek 7-2, on Sunday at 4pm.
This is a special benefit concert featuring young pianist Leo Wheeler, alongside his mother Thanphuying Ploypailin Jensen and Nat Yontararak, Thailand's first Steinway Artist and recipient of the Silpathorn Award.
More than a concert, the afternoon tells a remarkable story of musical heritage passed from teacher to student and now to a new generation.
Thanphuying Ploypailin Jensen was a piano student of Nat in her youth before continuing her musical education at The Purcell School, one of the UK's leading specialist music schools.
Today, she returns to the stage with her son Leo, who is himself a student of Nat, creating a unique artistic collaboration spanning three generations.
Leo is an emerging young artist who recently won first prize at the Miclot International Music Competition and has been invited to perform at Lincoln Center, New York. He was also the winner of the Bay State Piano Contest and a finalist in the Steinway Piano Competition of Massachusetts.
He will deliver solo piano performances in the afternoon. Among the highlights of the programme is Un Sospiro by Franz Liszt, one of the most beloved works in the piano repertoire, renowned for its lyrical beauty and dazzling technical demands.
Thanphuying Ploypailin will return as a vocalist. Accompanied by Nat at the piano, she will perform a selection of classical vocal works celebrating love, memory and devotion, alongside beloved compositions by HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, including Still On My Mind.
Tickets cost 2,500 baht including post-concert reception.
All proceeds after expenses will be donated to the Chaipattana Foundation.
