The Old Farmer's Almanac released its early Thanksgiving outlook on Oct. 15, predicting snow in the Upper Midwest, a rain and snow mix around the Lower Great Lakes, and rain across much of the East for Thursday, Nov. 26, according to the Almanac's November forecast. Sunny conditions are expected across much of the High Plains and Desert Southwest.
The outlook is a long-range prediction, not a National Weather Service forecast. The Almanac does not publish an accuracy rate or explain its forecasting method on the page, saying only that the outlook is based on predictions in its 2027 edition. Travelers should treat it as a rough guide and check local forecasts closer to the holiday.
