The Thai women defeated Canada 25-19, 25-22, 26-24 in Quezon City, the Philippines.
Pimpichaya Kokram scored 21 points and Chatchu-On Moksri added 17 for Thailand.
Kiera Van Ryk was Canada's top scorer with 20 points.
Danai Sriwatcharamethakul's team will next meet Poland tomorrow, Japan on Friday and the USA on Sunday.
Thais are without Thatdao Nuekjang for the rest of the 2022 VNL due to injury she sustained during the first week.
After three weeks, the top eight teams advance to the next round.
