Music lovers are invited to join the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra for an afternoon of fresh and exciting orchestral music during "Thailand International Composition Festival 2022" at Prince Mahidol Hall of Mahidol University, Salaya campus, Phutthamonthon Sai 4, on Saturday at 4pm.
Under the artistic direction of Narong Prangcharoen, the country's most well-recognised composer, TICF has become a premier event for new classical music written by some of today's leading composers.
The evening will begin with Chaotic Noises Of Silence Time, a vivid orchestral piece by Narong, and continue with Saturn Bells by American composer David Ludwig which evokes the spiralling shapes of Saturn's icy rings.
The next presentation is the Xixia Suite by Chinese-Swiss composer Deqing Wen, a moving piece based on a dance drama, followed by Chinese composer Shaosheng Li's The Tale Of The Southern Tour, which depicts the story of an ancient Chinese emperor's travels to the southern parts of his land.
The programme will wrap up with the inventive Fantasia On An Ostinato by renowned American composer John Corigliano.
Conducting the TPO will be Darrell Ang, one of the most entrepreneurial and influential players in the musical landscape of China, as well as one of the foremost interpreters of contemporary Asian composers active on the global stage.
