A Texas resident, Kelsie Miles, 30, has been arrested and charged with one count of murder after allegedly shooting and killing her 80-year-old grandmother, Betty Lou Hearn, at their East Oak Cliff home in Dallas.
The incident came to light when Miles contacted the Grand Prairie Police Department around 5:10 a.m. on Sunday morning to report the shooting. She met officers in the parking lot of the police department and informed them about the incident.
Upon hearing the news, officers detained Miles and contacted the Dallas Police Department, who then took custody of her. Responding to the call, Dallas PD officers arrived at the scene of the shooting to find Betty Hearn shot and lying on the floor inside the residence.
Concerned for Hearn's well-being, the officers forced entry into the home as they received no response from inside. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of Dallas Fire Rescue, Hearn succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following her arrest, Kelsie Miles was transported to the Dallas County Jail, where she is currently being held on a $750,000 bond.
