Texas used towering wind turbines as accidental frost fans based on a 2019 NASA observation; the result warmed ground temperatures 4–7°F on winter nights

On a freezing night, peach growers can protect their trees with a surprisingly simple idea: move warmer air from above down toward the ground. A tall frost fan does exactly that, stirring an otherwise still layer of cold air. Now, satellite observations over Texas have revealed a strikingly similar effect around wind turbines. The turbines were built to generate electricity, but their enormous blades can also mix warmer air downward on certain winter nights, as per a report by The Pulse.
