Houston residents reported a mysterious boom that sounded like a large blast happening nearby, while several people claimed that they saw fireballs lighting up the sky and then falling down in black smoke on Saturday afternoon. The Brenham fire department confirmed that they received reports of a possible explosion near Highway 50, but they found nothing upon reaching there.
Sherrie James, a woman, claimed that an unusual rock crashed through her roof, leaving a large hole in the ceiling and in her flooring. As nothing could confirm what actually happened, the American Meteor Society said it might be a meteor shower over Texas. The society said it received more than 100 reports of some 'fireball event'. According to those who witnessed what is believed to be a meteor shower lasted anywhere between 1.5 seconds and 7.5 seconds.
