About this seat: The Texas General Land Office, referred to as the GLO, is the oldest state agency. Established in 1836 at the dawn of the Republic of Texas, the GLO was primarily in charge of collecting and keeping records, providing maps and surveys, issuing titles and managing the settlement of state lands.
