Texas Groomer Sentenced to 50 Years Without Parole After Telling Child Abuse Is 'What Dads Do to Sons'

A Montgomery County jury has sent a 53-year-old man to prison for 50 years without parole after convicting him of sexually abusing a young boy he had spent years grooming to see the abuse as normal.

Bernabe Mendiola was found guilty on 20 August 2026 of continuous sexual abuse of a young child, following a four-day trial in the 221st District Court in Conroe, the county seat roughly 40 miles north of Houston.
