A tragic incident unfolded in Texas as a man and a woman, both 20 years old, have been accused of stabbing a man to death in his own condo. Leo Moore and Haley Barber are facing charges of capital murder in connection with the killing of Johnny Mac Ross Jr.
Reports suggest that Moore and Barber had been residing with Ross before the alleged crime took place. Following the murder, the duo wrapped the victim's body in rugs and sheets, stole his car, and attempted to flee from the authorities by leading them on a chase through the east Dallas suburb of Garland.
Garland police managed to apprehend Moore and Barber after a pursuit on Monday afternoon. According to sources in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the investigation revealed that the stabbing did not occur on the same day as the arrest, prompting authorities to work closely with the medical examiner to determine the timeline of events.
Surveillance footage captured the couple entering and exiting the condo around the time when Ross is believed to have been killed. Neighbors of the trio mentioned noticing a foul odor emanating from the residence over several days, with some recalling hearing loud noises and disturbances coming from the apartment.
One neighbor, Dillan Meadows, fondly remembered Ross as a friendly individual whom he had known for a brief period. Describing their shared activities like fishing and grilling, Meadows painted a picture of Ross as a kind and sociable person.
Concerns were raised by residents about potential high-risk activities associated with the condo, indicating that there may be more to uncover in the ongoing investigation. Moore and Barber allegedly stole Ross' car before their arrest and are currently being held without bond at the Garland Detention Center.
