Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has responded to a cease and desist request from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), reaffirming that Texas will not surrender in its border standoff with the Biden administration. In particular, the state continues to block U.S. Border Patrol access to a portion of the U.S.-Mexico border in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Last week, the Texas National Guard took control of Shelby Park and erected fencing, preventing Border Patrol agents from entering the area. The DHS had demanded access be restored by close of business today. However, Attorney General Paxton has indicated that Texas is intensifying its efforts, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining the border blockade.
