Twenty-seven years ago, the Houston Oilers moved from Texas to Tennessee and eventually changed its name to the Titans. Five years after that, the NFL returned to Houston when the Texans became the league’s expansion team.
So when the Titans wore their throwback Oilers jerseys against Houston and lost, the Texans’ social media team didn’t waste any time poking fun at Tennessee.

Simple. Elegant. Cutting. The “L”on the logo plus the black oil dripping down – chef’s kiss.
The decision to wear the Titans’ Oilers throwbacks against the city’s team they left was a bold move. But the Texans flipped the narrative on its head with the comeback win.
Houston’s victory also helped their playoff chances. The Texans are now tied for the top spot division in the division alongside the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars, though Houston is currently outside the playoff field because of tiebreakers.
The Texans played the Titans once more – this time at home – in Week 17 before a crucial AFC South match against the Colts in Week 18.
