The Houston Texans added to their defensive line Tuesday before free agency in March.
The team announced the signing of second-year defensive end Marcus Haynes. The terms of the contract were not immediately released.
Haynes spent three months of this past season with the Denver Broncos practice squad at the beginning of the year after he went undrafted out of Old Dominion in 2023. He did not see any regular-season action.
The Texans could have a lot of defensive line questions this offseason with a few major impending free agents such as Jonathan Greenard and Sheldon Rankins. Haynes could be a part of the team’s 2024 plans or just a young player the Texans are taking a flyer on before Houston makes its decisions this offseason.
At Old Dominion, Haynes registered 47 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss for 39 yards, four sacks and a forced fumble in 12 games as the starter.
