When the Houston Texans take on the New England Patriots in their first preseason game, it will be rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud starting for the Texans. This is according to Houston beat writer Aaron Wilson.
The Texans drafted Stroud with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft after a stellar career at Ohio State University. Stroud was in the mix to go No. 1 overall but the Carolina Panthers opted for quarterback Bryce Young in his place.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans has raved about Stroud and his quick development. This is why when the team put out its first depth chart on Monday, Stroud was listed as QB1, ahead of Davis Mills and Case Keenum.
