Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is in concussion protocol and will not return to Week 14’s game vs. the Jets after he left in the fourth quarter.
He remained on the ground following a hit by Jets defensive lineman Quinton Jefferson, prompting medical staff to run onto the field to check him out. He was able to walk off the field on his own.
From there, Stroud was taken to the locker room for further testing. Backup quarterback Davis Mills stepped into the game with 6:24 minutes left in the game. The Texans were down 24–6 at the time. Houston eventually lost 30–6.

Stroud finished Sunday’s game completing 10-of-23 passes for 91 yards. He was sacked four times.
Mills, on the other hand, struggled even more as he completed just one pass for four yards in his short appearance.
The rookie quarterback has not missed a game this season. He’s led the Texans to a 7–6 record, including Sunday. More information about Stroud’s status for next Sunday’s game vs. the Titans will likely be released throughout the week.
