Texans drop to No. 30 in Touchdown Wire power rankings for Week 2

The Houston Texans fell to the Baltimore Ravens 25-9 in Week 1 at M&T Bank Stadium, and it cost them slightly in the power rankings.

According to Jarrett Bailey from the Touchdown Wire, the Texans’ 0-1 start has them dropping from No. 27 to No. 30 in the power rankings.

The Texans are like when a well-liked kid in high school is a benchwarmer on the basketball team. When everyone watches him play, they hope for the best, but we all know this isn’t going to end well. Godspeed, C.J. Stroud.

Although the Texans got off to a loss, Stroud still had a decent start to his career going 28-of-44 for 242 yards along with four carries for 20 yards. The No. 2 overall pick may not have put the ball in the end zone, but Stroud also avoided putting the ball on the ground or into the arms of any Ravens defenders.

Houston’s defense also managed to hold Baltimore to 265 yards total offense, which was the fifth-fewest yards by the Ravens in a season opener since 1999.

Things may end well at some point for the well-liked kid someday. It just wasn’t going to be in Week 1 on the road against a playoff team from a year ago.

Across the rest of the AFC South, the Tennessee Titans slid to No. 31. Somehow the Indianapolis Colts, who also took a loss on Opening Day, fell one spot to No. 28. The Jacksonville Jaguars also fell one spot to No. 8 following their win over the Colts.
