The Houston Texans continue to shore up their secondary.
The Texans used their No. 37 overall pick in Round 2 of the 2022 NFL draft to take former Baylor safety Jalen Pitre.
Pitre gives the Texans a defensive back on the backend who can play deep in coach Lovie Smith’s patented Tampa 2 scheme.
General manager Nick Caserio said after Round 1 on Thursday night that Day 2 wouldn’t necessarily be about one position, but the team picked found decent value with Pitre.
“Won’t be about one position,” Caserio said. “It will be about trying to get good football players to add to the team so we have an opportunity to go out and be competitive on a week-to-week basis.”
