Texans DB Calen Bullock fined for hit on Dolphins WR Grant DuBose

Houston Texans rookie safety Calen Bullock was fined twice by the NFL for rule violations from a game last week’s 20-12 win against the Miami Dolphins.

The first fine is for $5,916 due to unnecessary roughness for a hit on a defenseless player for a collision with wide receiver Grant DuBose. Following the play, DeBuose was stretchered off the field and taken to a nearby hospital, where he stayed for several days because of a head injury.

DuBose was released earlier this week and placed on injured reserve.

The second fine was $5,916 due to another hit for unnecessary roughness for the use of a helmet.

Bullock, who leads the Texans and all rookies with five interceptions, said postgame that there was no intent to injure DuBose and that he was praying for his health.

There was no other discipline from the league on the play.

“I was praying that he would be OK,” Bullock said postgame. “I wasn’t trying to go out there and hurt nobody.”

The money the league receives from fines is “donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support Legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels,” per the NFL.
