The Houston Texans, an esteemed team in National Football League (NFL), recently confirmed that their quarterback (QB), CJ Stroud, would not be participating in the upcoming Sunday's game against Tennessee. This decision was taken following Stroud's recent concussion, placing the team in a difficult position ahead of what promises to be a challenging matchup.
A concussion, or a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), often results in a temporary loss of brain function, with symptoms that may include headaches, problems with concentration and memory, balance and coordination issues, among others. The risks associated with letting a player with a concussion back into the field before complete recovery are manifold, including higher susceptibility to another concussion and, in rare cases, severe brain injury. Therefore, it is standard protocol in the NFL to rule out such players from the game until they are completely healed.
