Texans’ C.J. Stroud to Miss Game Due to Concussion, per Report

The Texans are expected to be without starting quarterback C.J. Stroud in their Week 15 game against the Titans, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Stroud, who suffered a concussion during the Texans’ 30–6 loss to the Jets last week, is not expected to be cleared from the league’s concussion protocol before Sunday’s game in Nashville.

With Houston’s rookie signal-caller not expected to be under center, veteran Davis Mills likely will make his first start of the season in a pivotal AFC South matchup at Tennessee.

Mills, who is 5-20-1 as a starter in the NFL, will face a Titans defense that ranks 22nd against the pass allowing 248.6 yards per game in the air. Despite the favorable matchup, Mills and the Texans also likely will be missing both star two wide receivers, as Tank Dell (leg) is out for the season, while Nico Collins (calf) also is expected to miss Sunday’s game.

Houston Texans medical personnel attend to quarterback C.J. Stroud during Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. Stroud later was diagnosed with a concussion.

In the passing game, Houston instead will rely heavily upon tight end Dalton Schultz and veteran wideout Robert Woods. The club is hoping wide receiver Noah Brown, who has been limited in practice this week while dealing with a knee injury, can suit up Sunday.

The Texans (7–6) visit the Titans (5–8) on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at Nissan Stadium.
