The Houston Texans have added a veteran tight end to the roster after all.
As the club works through second-year Teagan Quitoriano coming off the physically unable to perform list and third-year Brevin Jordan battling a hamstring injury, the Texans signed Nick Vannett Wednesday.
Vannett, 30, is on his sixth NFL team after the Seattle Seahawks drafted him in Round 3 in 2016. The former Ohio State product stayed with the NFC West club three games into the 2019 season before playing the last 13 with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In 2020, Vannett played for the Denver Broncos before spending the next two seasons with the New Orleans Saints through three games. The rest of Vannett’s 2022 season was spent with the New York Giants where he played six games.
The Texans also released defensive end Demone Harris, who had played four games for Houston since 2021.
