Cheesemaking equipment manufacturer Tetra Pak CPS has sold off a former site in Sherborne, Dorset, for £4.55m.
The company, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the world’s largest food processing and packaging company, agreed the deal with packaging manufacturer Ablebox.
The 52,450 sq ft site at Coldharbour Business Park includes a detached warehouse, two-storey office accommodation, 122 parking spaces and separate loading yard.
Tetra Pak CPS said it had "consolidated" its own production in a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in another location. Real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield advised Tetra Pak CPS on the deal.
Ed Rohleder, a Bristol-based associate in Cushman & Wakefield’s UK logistics and industrial team, said: “We are delighted to have acted for Tetra Pak CPS throughout this successful sale. We received considerable interest in the site, which is well-located on the A30 trunk road, located six miles east of Yeovil."
Ablebox is an independent, fully integrated manufacturer of bespoke corrugated packaging solutions which services most sectors - from food and drink to pharmaceuticals. The business currently operates a 35,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Yeovil, in Somerset, and a 72,000 sq ft factory in Dorset.
The purchase of the third site at Coldharbour Business Park will enable the firm to double in size and create new jobs for the local area, according to Cushman & Wakefield.
“Tetra Pak invested in improvements over the years at its Sherborne location and Ablebox has similar plans to invest in the facility, grow in the local market and create jobs for people living in and around the town," said Mr Rohleder.
Tom, Gibbons, director at acquiring agents Burston Cook, added: “We were aware of Ablebox’s requirement for several months and when we informed them that Unit 6 was coming to the market, we were retained to advise on the acquisition.
“Increasingly we’re seeing occupiers looking for acquisition services as the availability of commercial space continues to diminish. We wish them all the very best in their new premises.”
