Fans of Tess Daly were floored to discover she has been using a stage name throughout her career.
The presenter has appeared on countless television shows over her lengthy career, first stepping onto the scene over 20 years ago. Her most notable work comes in the form of co-hosting Strictly Come Dancing but it appears she has pulled the wool over her fans' eyes all this time.
Introduced as Tess Daly in all of her television and personal appearances, it is in fact only a stage name. Her agent suggested she make the switch at the start of her career which she was originally apprehensive about. Speaking to Weekend she said: "My agent was obsessed with Nastassja Kinski at the time, who was in the film Tess, and thought I looked like her. So Tess it was. I was gullible and impressionable."

Despite the switch, her name was never officially changed by deed poll because she felt it was "disrespectful" to her parents. "Tess" was actually born Helen Elizabeth Daly, but agreed to the swap in order to kickstart her career.
She added: "Mind you, two weeks later I was in Japan then travelled the world. Paris, Milan, New York." Fans of the presenter were shocked at the revelation but admitted it somewhat feels correct that she's "a Helen."
One fan said: "Tess Daly's real name being Helen is both the most shocking celebrity fact but also the most believable too, because I can't really explain it other than she gives off massive Helen vibes."
Another added: "Omg I found out today and I was so shocked??? But Helen absolutely suits her so so much and I can't help explain it either." A third said: "I am taken aback by this fact!"
