Tess Daly appears to have 'ruined' Strictly Come Dancing's weekly pretence that Sunday's results show is live. Many fans of the BBC One dance contest are aware that the dreaded dance-off and the weekly elimination is actually filmed on a Saturday night straight after the live show.
Strictly did used to do two live shows in a weekend - doing the results in real-time on a Sunday night. However, it has previously been revealed that this was changed in 2008 because then host, the late Bruce Forsyth was struggling with doing two nights in a row, then at the age of 80.
But the 24 hours wait between the live show and the results has caused many problems with Strictly having its own 'mole' who passes on the results to be leaked each week hours after fans have watched the last couple dance on-screen.
And now, co-host Tess has revealed a Strictly 'first' as the hit programme prepares to go live on a Sunday for the first time in years. It was announced last week, when the live show aired in an unusual Friday and Saturday night slot, that the penultimate episode of the 2022 series has been moved to Sunday night (December 11) with the results being shown on Monday (December 12) because of World Cup.
And Twitter went into meltdown again as hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman revealed at the end of last weekend's results show which saw Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima make an emotional exit as they just missed out on a semi-final slot. But while fans have to wait an extra 24 hours for to watch the couples, they will get double the action as they each have to perform two dances for the first time this series in a bid to impress the judges and the voting public in order to get through to the final and within touching distance of the Glitterball trophy.
Taking to Instagram on Saturday (December 10), Tess, who co-hosts the show with Claudia Winkelman, shared a selfie as she headed to rehearsals for the next instalment of the dance competition. The presenter, 52, could be seen in the back of a car, smiling for the camera as she matched her blue coat and blue skull-printed scarf.
"Off to rehearsals, because for the first time ever…we’re going live on Sunday night!" she shared in the caption with her 813,000 followers. And fans were quick to comment on her apparent confirmation.

Others, however, were quick to compliment the TV star, who is married to fellow presenter and I'm A Celebrity finalist Vernon Kay. @thelittlecakeboutiquelondon said: "Awww you look lovely Tess." @stuartsvintagebarn67 shared: "You look beautiful!! Have a fab show!!" @penelopespa_ wrote: "Gorgeous Tess."
