Tess Arbez makes history for Ireland at Winter Olympics

Tess Arbez made history at the Winter Olympics on Friday by becoming the first female athlete to compete for Ireland in a speed skiing event.

She finished 42nd overall in the Super-G and raised her arms in delight at the finish line.

Arbez crashed out in the giant slalom event on Monday before finishing 48th in the slalom on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Thomas Maloney Westgaard has finished 14th in the cross-country skiing 15km classic at the Games with a time of 40:01.5 as ninety-five competitors finished the event.

Finland's Iivo Niskanen won the gold medal with a time of 37:54.8, while Alexander Bolshunov, representing the Russian Olympic Committee, took the silver [37:54.8], and Norway's Johannes Klaebo claimed bronze [38:32.3].
