Tesla is a brand that never stands still. Not only are its models constantly updated – the latest software tweak arrived as I was testing this latest model with a Photo Booth app to play with – but prices and offers are often changing when sales need a little bit of help. That’s the case now – especially with more and more EV rivals to Tesla’s big selling Model Y and Model 3 being launched, especially from China.
The new Model Y Standard is a fine example of Tesla reacting to current market dynamics. On paper, it’s the entry point into Tesla Model Y ownership, but in reality it feels like a carefully judged sweet spot that delivers everything most buyers actually want from a family electric SUV.
