Tesla FSD’s New Safety Trick: It Can Grab Control To Dodge A Crash

  • Automatic Collision Evasion can briefly take over even in manual driving.
  • The system only intervenes in narrow, high-risk crash scenarios.
  • Drivers can override it with firm counter-steering if they disagree.

Tesla is rolling out a feature that can grab the wheel from a driver during a crash, even if that driver never turned on Full Self-Driving. Automatic Collision Evasion, included in FSD Supervised v14.3.9, went to employee cars on September 6 and started reaching North American customers shortly after.
