Tesco is to put safety stickers on its stand-up paddleboards after the death of a “beautiful young lady." Emma Powell, 24, died last July while out on a newly-bought inflatable board.
An inquest into her death heard Emma died just hours after she and her cousin, Amber Powell, 21, had each bought a paddleboard from a Tesco store in North Wales. Emma was one of three paddleboarders who got into difficulties at Conwy Morfa, which sparked a major rescue operation.
In choppy conditions, Emma and Amber crashed into the side of a jetty, but they seemed fine. But soon after, they vanished and Emma became trapped underneath the water, NorthWalesLive reports.
