Tesco warning as customers urged to throw beers away over fears they could burst

Tesco has issued an urgent recall for a certain type of beer - over fears the cans could burst.

The affected beers are Vocation Lower Altitude Table.

Anyone who has purchased the cans from the supermarket is being advised not to drink it and is instead urged to take a photo before "disposing of them safely".

You can show the photo to a store employee at a customer service desk in Tesco to receive a full refund - no receipt is required.

A Tesco notice said: "Vocation Brewery has recalled all batch codes of its Vocation Lower Altitude Table Beer 4 x 330ml."

All best before dates are affected.

The reason for the call to dispose of the cans is owing to “fermentation" that can cause them to "swell and potentially burst".

Fermentation is the process used to brew beer.

In the fermentation process of beer, sugars derived mainly from malted barley are converted into alcohol by yeast., releasing carbon dioxide and heat.

It is this carbon dioxide that could cause the cans to burst.

Shoppers who would like more information, are asked to contact Vocation Brewery at hello@vocationbrewery.com or by phone on 01422 410810.

Tesco has also recalled other items in recent days.

Tesco's own brand Mixed Fruit and Nut packets have been pulled from shelves due to a fault in the ingredient lists.

The snack may contain milk- which is a potential allergen - but this has not been declared on the packaging.

All batch codes and all best before dates are impacted, and anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk is urged not to eat the product.

You can instead return it to a store for a full refund, and you don't need a receipt.

This includes the retailer’s own brand Omega 3 capsules due to levels of a substance above the legal limit.

The Omega 3 capsules have been taken off its shelves as they "contain raised levels of glycidol, which are above the permitted legal limit".

While the supermarket chain reassures customers that there is no serious health risk, it advises anyone who has consumed the capsules and feels unwell to visit the GP.

Advice on its website said: "This shouldn’t affect your health, if you’ve been following the dosage advice. However, if you’ve used the product very recently and feel unwell, we recommend you consult your GP.

"If you’ve bought an affected product, please don’t use it. Instead, return it to a Tesco store for a refund. No receipt is required."

The affected batches are Tesco Health Omega 3 Fish Oil 30, 90 and 240 capsules, with a best before date up to and including 04/2025.
