A block of butter sold at Tesco has been recalled after it was found to contain "high levels of E. coli bacteria.
The supermarket chain revealed that a certain batch of Trewithen Dairy Unsalted Butter which is sold in a block may be contaminated.
While most types of E. coli are harmless, and normally live in the intestines of healthy people, certain strains can cause severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhoea, and vomiting.
Taking to the social media, a supermarket spokeswoman wrote: "As a precaution, Trewithen Dairy is recalling one batch code of its unsalted butter, as it’s been found to contain high levels of E. coli."
In a statement Tesco added: "If you’ve bought an affected product, please don’t eat it.
"Instead, return it to a Tesco store where a full refund will be given.
"No receipt is required."
Customers who bought a product from the batch in question should return it immediately to a Tesco store where a full refund will be issued — a receipt is not required.

The batch is the Trewithen Dairy Unsalted Butter 250G with a best before date of May 23, 2022 with the batch code: G2 073.
Tesco has not revealed how many of the exact product were sold across the country.
No other Trewithen Dairy products are known to be affected.
