Tesco customers who use a Clubcard to save money on their shopping have been warned they will need to switch to a new app in a few weeks. The supermarket is closing its Clubcard app - used by many shoppers to keep their loyalty card handy and scan it in digital form, without needing the physical card - from April 18.
This follows Tesco's cutting of its Pay+ app, which shoppers could use to pay for groceries and collect Clubcard points, last month. Both apps are being replaced by a new one, called the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app, which shoppers will have to download and use instead from April 18.
The supermarket says the Grocery & Clubcard app, previously called Tesco Grocery, combines the features of the other two apps. It will allow shoppers to pay, collect Clubcard points and spend vouchers, as well as check what's in stock at their local store, create shopping lists and order a delivery, Liverpool Echo reports.

Shoppers will still be able access to their old points, coupons and vouchers after the switch, so you don't need to use them up in the next month. Clubcard points will rollover to the new Grocery & Clubcard app and your points will also be available on your online account - even if you don't download the app.
Tesco has said the change is intended to make things easier for customers by having everything in one app. A spokesperson said: "Bringing the functionality of Tesco Pay+ into the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app is a demonstration of our focus on providing products which closely align to the needs of Tesco shoppers."
Tesco Grocery and Clubcard is free to download and available on both Google Play for Android and the App Store for Apple devices. If you download it through the current Clubcard app, your account will automatically be moved over.
