Tesco shoppers are being warned to "do not consume" a certain cheese product after it was pulled from their store fridges. The supermarket said the product has been recalled as it may contain small pieces of plastic.
The supermarket giant has recalled its Tesco Creamfields grated cheddar 500g as a precaution as it may be "unsafe to eat". In a notice, they said this is because the cheese could "contain small pieces of clear, soft plastic".
When a product is recalled, for any reason, the Food Safety Agency (FSA) shares details on what you should do if you have bought the item. They also provide detailed information on why the product is being pulled from shelves reports Liverpool Echo.
A Tesco notice reads: "We’re recalling one date code of Tesco Creamfields grated cheddar 500g. This is because it may contain small pieces of clear, soft plastic which could make the product unsafe to eat."
The affected product is Tesco Creamfields grated cheddar 500g with a best before date of 23/03/23.
Shoppers who have the affected batch are urged: "Please do not consume this product and instead return any affected product to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required."
