Shoppers at a Tesco supermarket in Weston-super-Mare were evacuated on Thursday (June 30), due to a fire in the freezer unit. Customers in the store were quickly asked to leave the building after the fire alarm sounded, but Avon Fire and Rescue Service have since confirmed that everyone managed to make it out safely.
According to a report from Somerset Live, fire crews were called to the scene on Station Road at 1:45pm, where they discovered a fire in a freezer unit. A statement from the fire service said: "Crews were called at 13:45 to reports of a fire at a supermarket on Station Road, Weston-super-Mare.
"On arrival, firefighters from Weston-Super-Mare found a small fire in a freezer unit and the flames were extinguished using a CO2 extinguisher. Two firefighters wore breathing apparatus for safety.

They went on to say: "All persons were safely evacuated from the building. The cause of the incident has been determined as accidental."
A spokesperson for Tesco said: “Our Weston-super-Mare Superstore was closed for a short period this afternoon following a small fire in a freezer unit. The store has now re-opened and we apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”
